Only One Thing is Necessary

She had invited a special guest to their home - she was very worried about the meal, how the house looked, and if her Guest was comfortable and satisfied. What made her frustrated was that her sister did not have the same concern as she was fixing food platters in the kitchen, she looked out and saw her sister listening intently to their Guest.

Inside, she was boiling mad - how could her sister leave her to take care of all the needs of their special Guest! With incredible frustration and anger, she went to the Guest and asked, Are you not concerned that my sister has left me to serve alone? (In other words, she said - I am doing all the work while she is sitting here listening to you teach!)

The story of Martha and Mary powerfully demonstrates priorities! In our lives, only one thing is essential—our relationship with the MASTER! As described by Martha, many of us have experienced the overwhelming task of getting things done. Making lists, planning, organizing, and strategizing to make everything flow perfectly can bring about worry and anxiety and cause great frustration.

The account is interesting because —Martha had a desire to serve the Master—in fact, it was her desire—but the Master wanted her to prioritize him by sitting at HIS feet to learn from HIM at this special time. It is quite interesting how we can think our desires are HIS desires!

So, the real question is (servants of the MASTER) - are you sitting at HIS feet to receive and learn of HIM, or have serving the Master become priority?

Ways to determine your priorities....

  1. Do you wake up and check your phone first to see what your priorities are in your ministry or business?

  2. Do you have greater concern for how things look rather than how your heart looks to ABBA Father?

  3. Have you scheduled your personal time away with ABBA Father to recalibrate?

If you relate to any of these, repent and reprioritize HIM!

ABBA, help us to seek First - Your KINGDOM and YOUR righteousness! In YESHUA's name! Amen!

Bless you, Beloved!

Miriam
